Want to immerse yourself in the world of Paella? Would you like to learn to cook authentic Paella? Now's your chance to do it right in the heart of the home of Paella. This is a three night break in the vibrant Mediterranean city of Valencia. It's all about the food and the culture surrounding Spain's most famous dish.You will be cooking paella in Valencia! :
Day 1- Enjoy a great seafood paella at the beach, and in the afternoon discover the historical centre of Valencia or try such local delicacies as Horchata the local summer drink made from tiger nuts.We recommend good place to eat both at lunchtime and in the evening we recommend a couple of restaurants which we can book for you or a route for a short tapas tour.
Day 2- Learn the secrets of cooking Paella in a hands-on cookery class teaching you how to create a delicious Paella.This includes a visit to the impressive local food market with the chef to see firsthand how to buy the best ingredients.The class will be a step by step instruction of how to cook the noble dish with our English speaking chef who is there to ensure your paella comes out just right..During the class there is a winetasting of local cava and you will learn how to prepare at least one tapa. After lunch(your paella!) you have the afternoon free to do what you want and then for the evening we can recommend a couple of interesting restaurants(e.g.you could try Quique Dacosta's(currently Valencia's most fashionable chef)..
Day 3- We go on an excursion to the Valencian countryside and visit a bodega (winery) followed by a typical country outdoor/rustic Paella,which because of its ingredients is related more to the land than to the sea.In the evening you will be free to do your own thing
Day 4-Depart
You will stay in a perfectly situated boutique hotel in the centre of the city and will have time to visit this fascinating city which is a mix of old and new.The historical centre of the city or the modernistic City of the Arts and Science Museum.Valencia is city of contrasts.On the one hand a maritime port and on the other capital of a fertile land, It offers a window into the typical Mediterranean lifestyle of the Spanish: amazing food,nightlife and relaxation.
If you come on the Paella Project you'll not only learn how to cook Paella but you'll also learn its history,its culture and the reasoning behind its ingredients. For example, did you know rice is grown extensively just south of Valencia and has been for over a thousand years?
The Paella Project really is a full on 'Foodie Experience' and above all it is a fun way to experience and learn about Paella right in the heart of its home-Valencia. If it's not from Valencia it is not real Paella!
For the activities you will be accompanied by either Patrick(a Brit who has lived in Valencia for over 20 years) or Julia(who is Spanish and has lived in Valencia nearly all her life- and still manages to speak excellent English) Together they have an accumulation of local knowledge second to none and will ensure you enjoy the whole experience.

Walking
No planned walks on this trip. There is walking in terms of walking in the centre of Valencia to get around from A to B but no more than a normal city centre.
Gastronomy
The idea is that you experience paella in different formats and situations.The two meals included in the trip are focused on rice dishes from the region of Valencia designed so that the visitor can understand the origins and culture that surrounds the world of paella in Valencia. Wine is included in all the meals and generally will be excellent local wines. We also give recommendations for the evening meals whether it be for the lastest fashionable chef's restaurant, a tapas bar or just a straightforward traditional meal.

A Mini-break designed for food lovers.
Day 1:
Enjoy a great seafood paella or Arroz a Banda at the beach, and in the afternoon discover the historical centre of Valencia or try such local delicacies as Horchata, the local summer drink made from tiger nuts. In the evening we recommend a couple of restaurants for dining and can book them for you or you could visit some tapas bar.
Day 2:
Learn the secrets of cooking paella in a hands-on cookery class.Before the cooking you will visit Valencia's impressive food market and learn from the chef how to buy the ingredients for a paella. After the English speaking chef has explained how to cook the dish he will help you cook it. There will be a short tasting of delicious local cava.Then we will have lunch eating the paella we have prepared. After lunch you are free to explore the city further. For the evening meal there are recommended restaurants we can book for you or you can chose your own.
Day 3:
Excursion to visit a unique family run winery. A winetasting session of their best wines and a rustic paella in rural setting.
After lunch we make our way back to Valencia where you have the evening free to do your own thing.
Day 4:
Depart for Valencia airport. Transport not included in the price but can be organised for 30 Euros.
